Our Organization

The Southern Plains Tribal Health Board (SPTHB) is a non-profit organization based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Health Board was established in 1972 to provide a unified voice on tribal public health needs and policy for the 43 federally recognized tribes located in the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Our mission is to be dedicated to serving the Tribal nations of the Southern Plains by improving health outcomes for American Indians through partnerships advocacy, education, and training. Our vision is to promote health communities, serving and strengthening all Tribal Nations.

The Oklahoma Area Tribal Epidemiology Center (OKTEC) is a division under the SPTHB. The OKTEC is one of twelve Tribal Epidemiology Centers located across the United States.

Native Test Program Overview

Native Test is a nationwide service that provides individuals with free human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) self-test kits, syphilis self-test kits, prevention information with pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and sexual health care navigation. Native Test is for anyone nationwide 13 years or older including both American Indians/Alaska Natives and non-Native individuals. This program is coordinated by the OKTEC.

Native Test is impacting communities with thoughtful change and resources. Working alongside partners within the community helps bring awareness to the program and expand the potential impact. Native Test has over 88 community partners across Indian Country. We want to help you make a difference for your community by removing the barriers that can stand in the way of accessing free, safe, and confidential HIV and STI testing.
